Watch the video below for a short-n-sweet recap of your results!
To complement your unique teaching talents (i.e. your special superpower!), I've curated a tailored set of resources just. for. you.
When it comes to your classroom, you welcome adminstrative walk-thru's (no problem!) because you're always on sequence.
You may (secretly) not love staff or district meetings, but you make the sacrifices you need to in the name of your students. And you *may occasionally admit* the curriculum map can be dry at times...but you make it fun for your kiddos anyhow!
You're attentive to detail, consistent, competent, and results-driven. Every decision you make, is a dedicated one.
(lol, not the part where he's chasing the penguin...
more along the lines of your knowing how a little hard work can go a long way to achieve BIG results!)
But perhaps the best part about your superpower is this...
Your students know what to expect when they walk in your classroom. Your systems and processes for getting them into the learning groove are impenetrable.
Your plans for the day are laser-focused on where each lesson is headed, and your students are well-directed because of it.
Three cheers for your epic efforts because, hint: our students need it!
because every great leader needs a plan...
Now that we've drilled down into your core teaching talents, why not use this knowledge as power?! It's time to spring into action and level-up learning.
Like Lucius to Batman, or Edna to the Incredibles, I've been working on some new gadgets to enhance your awesome capabilities.
You're a teacher...so you likely know this one. But do you actually *allow* yourself to practice it??
Getting through the entire curriculum is like ceaselessly chasing the proverbial unicorn...
Give yourself some grace here!
You might not get to every short story or cover as many essays as you'd like.
'Rigor' isn't how much you cover, it's how deep you're willing to go with what you do get to. Don't let any sideways glances from colleagues tell you otherwise.
There's lots of talk about standards these days, but here's the legit word (you may not have heard) on the street...
There's a difference between standard-ized and standards-based.
In other words, your map (especially if dictated by someone else) is welcome to tell you which skills to teach...
But you--and your learners!--should be free to determine the content. This'll help you quit feeling like you gotta cover it all, ya' dig?
With time ticking away, it can be hard to ease your grip on the content you need to teach.
But here's the thing: implementing with laser-focus means you get the process right, but it doesn't always maximize the experience for your learners
(finding the main idea can only go so far, y'all)
Start by...asking your students a question they never hear: 'what do you want to learn today?' Then pair those interests with your learning targets for some memorable moments in learning.
Shazaam!!
Let your students' real passions and interests take flight while you check-mark your learning targets. With this resource, everyone soars!
